THE DOC UNIT
VISION
The Doc Unit is a mobile documentary atelier: a compact, flexible unit for artistically driven non-fiction work. A fully electric van serves as a mobile base, equipped with a full Red camera package, audio, monitoring, data management, and the possibility for on-site reviewing. A small infrastructure that enables quick responses and unobtrusive work in the field.
The Unit operates with proximity, focus, and a clear ethical stance. At its core lies a documentary practice that invests time, remains present, and takes encounters seriously. Depending on the project, films are created either solo or with carefully assembled micro-teams. A mobile atelier for stories that require closeness and cinematic clarity.
Reliable and self-sufficient, the Doc Unit can be entrusted with any project, working independently while keeping the creator’s vision at the forefront.
ETHOS
FRAGILE is an attitude: to see, to listen, to withstand. The Unit works observationally, with restraint, and with respect for the people it follows. At its center lies the question of how cinematic closeness emerges. Its practice puts relationships before images. Every decision, technical, aesthetic, or organizational, is guided by the responsibility to protect the integrity of those involved.
The Doc Unit works quietly. It is attentive to context, dynamics, and power relations, and responds to them consciously. Here, attitude means taking responsibility, remaining attentive, and stepping back at the right moment.
